★★★★★ Ashley Baber United States · 3-Day Journey

This was truly one of the most special and unexpected experiences of my time in Koh Samui.

I had never touched a handpan before, but I’ve always loved the sound and found the instrument beautiful. When I came across Can’s Instagram, something in me told me to reach out and book a lesson. I opted for the three-day journey and was completely blown away by the entire experience.

First, the setting is incredible. A short walk up a staircase leads you to the most serene balcony tucked among the trees and overlooking the ocean. The view alone is spectacular, and it’s hard to imagine a more beautiful place to learn and play music.

From the beginning, I felt completely at home with Can, almost like I was hanging out with a friend I’d known for years. He is incredibly talented, but his teaching style is approachable, patient and encouraging. He makes learning the basics feel light and fun, while somehow giving you the confidence to believe you can actually keep going. Each day I was greeted with snacks, coffee, water and coconut water, and then we would simply play, learn and chat for hours. Nothing ever felt rushed.

What surprised me most was how therapeutic playing the handpan became. There is something about the instrument that gives you a beautiful space for self-expression while also revealing patterns within yourself. I didn’t realize how much I was craving that kind of creative outlet until I experienced it.

More than anything, Can has given me a genuine love for this instrument and the confidence to continue learning long after I leave Samui. I’m incredibly grateful for his mentorship and for the experience he created. I know I’ll carry it with me for years to come. Truly unforgettable.

★★★★★ Sanne Netherlands · Handpan Lesson

What a great experience I had. Handpan lesson with the most amazing view!

Can is really a nice guy. He takes the time you need and is very good in music on the handpan. If you are on Samui and want a nice activity, beginner or experienced, you should go here.

A warm welcome and a drink and then started jamming. I’m a beginner and learned so much already.

Thank you Can for this great lesson!

★★★★★ Areerat B. Thailand · Sound Journey

I recently joined a sound journey at Noom Studio, and it felt very different from other sessions I’ve experienced.

As a yoga teacher, I’ve attended many sound healings, but the way the handpan, Tibetan bowls, and gong were harmonized here was truly special. The instruments didn’t just play one after another — they flowed together in a very balanced and intentional way.

The terrace space, the open view, and even the weather that evening made it feel magical. It was grounding, calming, and deeply nourishing. You can feel the care and presence behind the session.

Highly recommend experiencing it if you’re in Koh Samui.

★★★★★ Jana K. Germany · Weekly Session

The Sunday sound journey on the terrace became a ritual during my stay.

Went three weeks in a row. Worth planning your whole week around it.

01

About
sound journeys.

What actually happens in a session?
You lie down on a mat, close your eyes, and rest while we play live instruments — handpan, gong, and Tibetan and crystal bowls. That’s it. No participation required. Most people fall somewhere between awake and asleep for the whole thing.
Do I need any experience or background?
None at all. You don’t need to know anything about music or sound work. If you can lie still for an hour, you’re ready.
What does it feel like?
Different for everyone. Some people feel deeply relaxed. Some notice their mind going quiet. Some feel nothing unusual and just leave feeling rested. All of those are fine outcomes.
Is it like meditation?
Not exactly. You don’t have to focus or follow any instructions. The sound does most of the work — you just show up and let it.
Can I fall asleep?
Yes, and plenty of people do.
What should I wear and bring?
Loose, comfortable clothes. We provide mats. Bring a light layer if you run cold — lying still for an hour can make you cooler than expected.
Should I eat beforehand?
Eat light. A full meal right before makes it harder to relax.
Are there any reasons I shouldn’t come?
If you’re pregnant, have epilepsy, a recent surgery, a hearing condition, or significant sound sensitivity — message us first and we’ll figure out what works for you.

02

About
handpan lessons.

Do I need musical experience to learn handpan?
No. Most people who come to us have never played an instrument before. The handpan is built so that almost everything you play sounds good — there are no wrong notes in the traditional sense.
How quickly can I learn?
Most people leave their first session able to play simple patterns that actually sound like music. It’s one of the fastest instruments to get started on.
Private or group — which is better for me?
Private lessons are 60 minutes, one student, full focus — good if you want to move at your own pace or have specific goals. Group lessons are 90 minutes for 2–3 people — better if you’re coming with a friend or travel companion and want a shared experience.
Do I need my own instrument?
No. We have instruments you can play during the session. If you’re thinking about buying one, we’re happy to talk you through that too.
Where do lessons take place?
At the Noom Studio open-air terrace in Lamai, or we can come to your hotel, villa, or chosen spot across Samui.
I’m only in Samui for a few days — is it worth doing just one lesson?
Yes. A single session is enough to learn the basics and leave with something you can keep practicing, even without an instrument.

03

Practical
stuff.

How do I book?
Message us on WhatsApp or Instagram. We’ll find a time that works.
How much does it cost?
Handpan lessons: a demo lesson is 2,000 THB; the 3-Day Handpan Journey is 10,000 THB; an 8-lesson course (90 min each) is 12,000 THB. Group lessons add 1,000 THB per extra player, up to three. Private sound journeys at the studio are 2,500 THB for two (+500 THB per extra guest, up to 7). We come to your place from 4,000 THB for two (+500 THB per guest, up to 10). Weekly open sessions on Sundays are 600 THB per person.
Can I bring kids?
Yes, message us and we’ll let you know what works depending on age.
Is the studio indoors or outdoors?
Open-air terrace in Lamai — surrounded by trees, open sky.
What if I need to cancel?
Life happens. Just message us as early as you can and we’ll sort it out.
